The progenitor of the Horn(e) family of Eastern Passage, Halifax County, Nova Scotia was Jacob Horn(e), the son of Michel Horn(e) and Barbara Lobenger. He was born about 1732 in Strasbourg, Alsace, France (then part of Germany) and died at Eastern Passage on April 16, 1821. It was noted that he was 101 years old (this age, however, is inconsistent with his birth date of 1732).He arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1751 aboard the ship, "Gale". Jacob married Frances Anastasia Savary on March 1, 1756. He eventually settled at Eastern Passage across the harbour from Halifax. In a petition for land in 1810 he stated that he had had 15 children, but I have the names for only 13 of them: Louis(about 1756); Catherine Elizabeth(about 1776); Marie Francois(April 30, 1759); Louise(about 1760); Jacob Frederick(about 1763); George Joseph(1765-1848); Jean(about 1766); Margaret Barbary(about 1766); Andrew Phillip(August 1770-November 13, 1827; Sophia(April 24 1771-January 2, 1846; Benjamin(about 1774); John(about 1777-January 16, 1844; Sara(unknown).
I am trying to determine which of Jacob's son I am descended from. I can trace my family from George Horne born about 1791 and married to Maria ____ who was born about 1801. I think it most likely that George was the son of George Joseph Horne (one of Jacob's sons). I would be grateful for any information which would confirm the relationship.
I am also researching the family history of my mother's predecessors, Alexander and Tanner, as well as my wife Norma's families, Young and Westover.
