My research into the Comries of Canada and the United States includes mostly Ontario, Michigan and Wisconsin. Some Comries have moved elsewhere but most remain in these locations. I welcome anyone who has information concerning these families top contact me at dhorner@onlink.net The Comrie family immigrated from Scotland( Stirling or Comrie ) in the very early 1800s and settled in Cobourg Ontario Canada. Families from the U.K. were given land grants to maintain British sympathies in Upper Canada. During that time period a large number of residents in Upper Canada were Americans who had immigrated to Upper Canada after the American Revolution. The British were not sure of these peoples' loyalties so they wanted more Brits in the colony. Also Upper Canada was under populated.
