Started to search for my family history, our roots are going back to Hungary and the Old Hungary, which part belongs to Romania now.
I was born in a small city (Enying) in Hungary. Our family moved closer to Budapest when I was 7 years old, went to school in Budapest. I was a very adventurous, artistic child. Used to paint and sell rocks!!! Climbed trees, riding horses and bikes, played guitar and drums, fished and canoed on the Danube.
When I was 19 years old, opened a small business, pastry/ice cream shop on the Island on the Danube ( where my parents, and my sister with her family is still living ). It was very successful, until one day in '87, we invested a large amount of money... which turned into a scam!!(this is very common in Hungary) I have lost everything, it was time to start a new life.
Was a difficult decission to leave my family behind.
Lived in Austria 87-89. I emmigrated to Canada, instead of Australia, because I did have a dog, Rocky, whom I would not part from. Australia has very strict rules about pets!
My first years in Canada were very trying, it was cold and very "flat" in Winnipeg. Emmigration Canada would refuse to help me with extending the Free ESL course for me, which would have allowed me to take the TOEFL test, and enter into University of Winnipeg. Emmigration representative( from Poland) told me, my english was good enough to get a job....they offered me to work in a parking lot booth, selling parking tickets.All the Polish emmigrants got their extension for further ESL course!!! I was NOT very impressed, as I did come here to build a good life, and I was and always am full of ambition.
A few weeks before my first son Anthony was born, I "jumped" into my huge and old New Yorker car and decided to take a chance and drive through the snowstorm in -30C on the prarie (16 hours+)! Hoping for a better future for my baby, in Calgary, Alberta.
I have been living here since...another son Jordan was born 9 years later. We are living happily in our small family, myself and my two boys and many of our pets.
We love traveling everywhere. In 2007 I have visited Peru with Anthony, climbed many mountains in the Andes, and reached Machu Picchu. In 2008 I am going back to Peru and possibly Bolivia, Ecuador. My plan is to open a hostel, and a tour company.
