Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

About Our Family Research
I have been able to trace my ancestry back only thru three generations, and even the second, as well as the third, is very incomplete. I have not found my paternal grandfathers point-of-entry into the United States, nor have I found any record of naturalization. I have found record of his elder sister's entry into New York city, and believe that his father had lived there. My grandfather never saw his father in this country. From what I have been able to piece together is that his father abandoned his family and moved to the United States from Hamburg, Germany, and that his daughter Thekla joined him there a few years later. It is possible that Thekla had a daughter out-of-wedlock, whom she named "Thekla", and that this daughter made several trips across the Atlantic, as did her mother.
