The Cape Cod Hortons

Updated November 16, 2007

About Our Family Research

My Family has lived in Eastham on Cape Cod since about 1690. Samuel Horton came from England and settled in Eastham about 1690. He and his decendants intermarried with Pilgrim families from Plymouth who had started a new community in Nauset (now Easthan, Orleans, & Wellfleet) on Cape Cod. My family stayed on the Cape for for almost 300 years, marrying into many Cape Cod families, including Brewster, Bangs, Clark, Cob, Collins, Doane, Freeman, Higgins, Hopkins, Knowles, Mayo, Paine, Prence, Rogers, Snow, Sparrow, Treat, among others.

I have researched at the Pilgrim Museum in Plymouth, MA; as well as many local libraries; and at the Eastham, MA Town Hall.
