Knut Knutson Einsetlie is the oldest recordered ancestor of the Hougo Family who hailed from the Einsetlie farm near Hol. Norway in 1750. Knut Knutson Osterbo lived on the Osterbo farm Near Aurland, Norway and his son Knut Knutson Haugo derived his name from the Haugo farm situated between Aurland and Hol, Norway. He came to the USA in 1861 to Goodhue Co., Minnesota and subsequently brought his Mother, Father and a Sister to join him in 1863. A sister, Rannei married Knut Esterby and came to join them in 1863 and bought an adjoining farm to Knut Knutson Hougo in Leon township, Goodhue Co., Minnesota
