Following the death of my father Clifford Houseman in 2002 I decided to try and construct my family tree. Starting with my own memories of past events I have managed to trace several lines back through a number of generations. The Houseman's were historically involved in agriculture and textiles in Nidderdale. Through various marriages my ancestors appear to have been responsible for a lot of the development of the area of Nidderdale around Dacre, Darley and Pateley Bridge.
The family have also spread further afield with branches now in Australia and South Africa as well as Canada.
My research is still ongoing and if you can supply more information to me I would be most grateful.
I am indebted to all those people who have shared their research with me in the past to get me this far and look forward to more contacts in the future.
