" The Maximillion Kinnie Family & Ancestors"

About Our Family Research

Hello. My Name is Jaynie Kinnie-Hout. I am writing in Memory of my Beloved Father Maximillion Kinnie. A wonderful Man, my father Max passed away in 1996, He is gone but definitely NOT forgotten! He spent most of his adult years living "Out West" where his Heart was. He loved fishing, hunting, boating along with all of the splendid outdoor life enjoyed here in Arizona. Max migrated to the West in about 1940, I believe. He came out to the "Rugged, Untamed West" with some of my other reltives that resided in Upstate New York. Some of their names were Backus, Negus, Hurst, and McManus. My father and William E. Negus built a motor-court here in the 40's using the rock from local quarys. They built the motel with "Their own hands", and flagged in tourists along Historic Route 66. They boasted the first air-conditioned motor court in the area that had a swimming pool, a unheard of luxury, during the 40's.
The most exciting part of the Kinnie Legacy were lives of the people living in New York. They were very colorful people indeed. One of the Kinnie's is said to have owned and operated a Circus. My Grandfather Frank Harold Kinnie sported a Raccoon Coat and owned a car dealership in New York. My great Aunt Trisha Hurst was a New York City (Deb) debutant & a columnist for the New York Times. She was an Author and wrote cook books and etiquitte. It is quite an interesting story about all of them. I remember as a small Child seeing my Aunt Etta Mcmanus getting off the train from New York City wearing a full-legnth Mink coat. They spent their lesure time drinking Gin, eating chocolates and palying cards in the sultry Arizona summer. When she left several months later, she gave a wave and said, "Take care of the child, and the rest of you can go to hell." Very Cool I thought! I hope others will remember some of these wonderful Folk. I loved them with all my heart and miss them terribly. They have long- since gone, vanished to that unseen place we will all pass over too eventually. It is my wish to never let their memory die... Best Regards Jaynie Kinnie-Hout
