The Houlroyd family of Central Islip, New York

Updated May 1, 2001

About Our Family Research

My name is Martin Houlroyd, I am beginning a search into the origin of my family name. I believe Houlroyd is an English name, but I did not find this spelling in the UK. I do not know when Houlroyd's arrived in the US, but from what I've seen listed on the Internet, this name is dated back to the early 1800's. There are many other Houlroyd's listed in the Tri-State area, but I don't have a clue who they are.

My grandparents lived in New York City.
My grandfather's name was Martin, my grandmother's name was Christine. My grandfather had two sons; Martin and Charles.
My dad's name is Charles. He has two sons; Martin and Charles.
My Uncle's name was Martin.

As I learn what I'm doing I'll add to this. If you can help me with missing pieces please send me an email - Thank You
