I have been researching my father's family in Wales England.
My father Clarence Houghton was born in Australia at Wallsend Hospital, Wallsend is a Suburb of Newcastle.
New South Wales.
Born on the 10th May 1919 my father was bought up at Lambton also a suburb of Newcastle ,New South wales.
Clarence was one of six son's born to William Henry Houghton and Emily Margaret (Ashman) Houghton.
Emily died during child birth in 1923
The son's were William ,Albert,Ernest Samual,John Thomas,
Sidney James and Clarence.(All now Deceased)
My grandfather William Henry Houghton was born at Redruth
in Cornwall. Wales.
He left Wales some where in the 1880's he was aged 3 when he, his father William, his mother Emma Jane ( Dunstan) and Sister's Elizabeth and Emma, travelled by sea to Australia.
The name for my Grandfather's family in the Census has been spelt incorrectly.
The Houghton name takes many form's in spelling "Haughton"is one of them.
On the Grave at Sandgate Cemetery the name has been mis-spelt as "Oughton"
I found my Grandfather's family through the Census of Wales 1870.
I am unable to find where his father William Houghton of Redruth Wales was born.
