No formal research yet, other than some investigation into an ancestor who was an important figure in the Greek War of Independence.

The Houghton side comes from Widnes, Cheshire, England, although I live in Essex.

My father, Raymond Houghton, studied at Wade Deacon grammar school in Widnes, but died young in 1967, having barely started his studies at Birmingham University. His only sibling, Philip Houghton, had a son, Matthew, but sadly died in 1998.

My paternal grandfather, Thomas Houghton, had several siblings and many nieces and nephews.

I have more Greek blood in me than English. Both grandmothers were sisters, and descendants of the Vokos (Miaoulis) clan from Hydra island. Most of my immediate Greek relatives live in Athens.
