The family began when the marriage of Mary Helen Moosbrugger and John Frederick Howe took place at Emmanuel Catholic Church in Dayton, Ohio February 27, 1954.
"Fred" was a widower at the time and had two daughters Rosanne Irene (married to Thomas Wells Hogan in 1959)and Judith Marie. Their mother, Rose Kreiger had died of lung cancer at age 38. Mary was 38 years old at their marriage, her first and only. Fred died at age 66 and Mary died at age 93 in February (11-13)of 2008.Mary's family had settled in Dayton Ohio in the 1870's. her maternal grandparents had settled in Dayton in the 1850's. A productive, talented, industrious, musically inclined family with longevity in their genealogical makeup.
Fred's family was from Pennsylvania. His father was an M.D.His mother's family had descended from a revolutionary war soldier John McHugh who served in the Continental Army in New York. Rose Kreiger was of Swedish and Germanic background. Fred's daughter Rosanne has had given birth 9 times and is a grandmother and great grandmother. Judith married a divorced man, Donald (Barbara) Carpenter with two daughters who now have children. Mary Joanne was Fred and Mary's first Daughter and she was married in April of 1980 to Marc Howe-Vachon who was adopted in Cleveland, Ohio as an infant. His family name was originally Mehan.He and a brother share the same given name of "Michael". His legal name is now Marc Allen Howe-Vachon. William Vachon of Florida,( St. Pete's Beach) is deceased who raised him with his wife. Marc has an adopted sister. Marc and Mary"Jo" have two sons, Jason Frederick and Kyle William,(living in Virginia). Jennifer Hall of Vandalia, Ohio recently married Jason in 2007. Patricia Eileen, (living in Chicago) and Diane Louise (living in Dayton) are Fred and Mary's two youngest daughters have not married to date. There are a great number of Moosbrugger family members who are cousins of the Howes in the Dayton area. Toledo, Ohio, Atlanta, Georgia , San Antonio, TX, Arizona, Oregon and California are some residences of cousins and other relatives and there are cousins from the Howe family from Fred's side from his brother Robert J. of Pennsylvania and from his sister Mary and Richard Diamond of Texas. Mary's oldest know relative was Caspar Moosbrugger who died 2-27 1708 in Unlingen, Wurtenburg. His son, (also Caspar) was born in 1656 became a monk, a founding member of the Mason's Guild and Voralburg architect who constructed Einsielden Abbey in Switzerland. The Kightlinger family of Venango and Crawford Co. Pennsylvania are the maternal grandparent's relatives of Fred. David Kightlinger,Fred's grandfather was a son of Michael,who was a son of Andrew who was a son of Jacob Keightlinger (born 1663) Michael was disasterously married to Isabella Wilkins and Mary Lowers was her mother. Robert Wilkins born 1699 are her oldest known ancestors, at this point. Specifics of Fred's maternal family ties before 1900 and after 1776 are not clear right now,or any European homeland background. Ireland and England or Wales are Fred's family's native lands and Mary's are France and Germany.
