About Our Family Research


The Cornwell Family dates back to the arrival of Wiliam Cornwell, Jr., aka "Sgt" at Roxbury (Boston) in 1633. He was one of the Founders of Hartford in 1636 and of Middletown, CT in 1650. Hemarried Mary "Little Dove" Hyanno in Barnstable/Hartford abt 1639 after servng under Major John Mason in the attack on the Pequots Fort at Mystic in 1637. His descendant Isaac Cornwell served during the Revolutionary War as a Pvt in Major Sheldons 1st CT Light Horse Regt.,of Capt. Butlers Co., assigned to Washingtons' Mounted Escort. The Howe Family dates back to Abraham Howe In Marlborough, MA where he married Hannah Ward on 26 Mar 1657. He served in the MA Militia during King Philips' Was. His descendant Zadok Howe was a Minuteman at Lexington-Concord who served on Washingtons' Staff as 1st Lieut., for 5 years during the Revoutionary War. Thus, descendants of the these patriots are eligible for Membership in the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, the Society of Colonial Wars, the Sons of the American Revolution, The Society of Middletown (CT) First Settlers Descendants - 1650, Mayflower Society, Etc. Nuf Said!
