At age 16 Willard died as a result of a ruptured appendix. He was taken to a hospital in Ottawa on a Friday,was operated on Saturday and died shortly after. On Tuesday his remains were brought back to Shawville where the funeral was held at 2pm on Wednesday. He was burried in the Starks Corners
Cemetary.
