FAMILY REUNION: October 10th, 2004
We had a marvelous family reunion on a beautiful fall Sunday at the home of Gail K. Morris, one of Leonard's and Myrtis grandchildren. The
total family had not gotten all together since the mid-1980's, so the reunion for this family was way overdue. Leonard and Myrtis have both passed on as well as their second born son, Ray, and his beautiful granddaughter, Kay Cee, who died tragically in a car accident in Florida at the age of 23. The other deceased family member remembered was Edna Kitchens, wife of Leonard and Myrtis' first born son, Leonard O., Jr. A Memorabilia Table displayed cherished photos and albums and roses placed in memory of those gone on before us. As this family has grown so tremendously, activities and games were planned to engage everyone and to encourage interaction amongst all present. Many, many laughs were heard, especially during the "White Elephant." Children received special prizes and families received new Kitchens' Family Directories and favor bags. Everyone went home full of delicious southern bar-be-que with its accompanying classic side dishes, as well as sweet desserts made by all the great cooks of this family! It was a grand day!
