Our LABBEE family is known to be French. Alfred moved from Quebec, then we find his son JOHN B. LABBEE in Greene Co., Ill., and then his grandchildren, born of John's only child, GEORGE ALFRED LABBEE, moved on to Mo., and there is where most of his children resided, until some of their children moved onward to other states. Some say that the LABBEE name originated from the word l'abbe, meaning they were of the abbey, men who worked in the abbey, for the priests. This, I do not know is certain with our LABBEE family, but we are of French descent. I hope that others will help with this site, and contribute anything they may have on the LABBEE family and their ancestors and descendants. My name is Linda Labbee Howell, daughter of OHREN G.
