About Our Family Research

I am so glad that I have been able to trace my family tree back to William Lee (aka "Red" or Bill) born about 1826 in Micklenburg County NC. His wife Martha Elizabeth Reed is buried in Orange Cemetery, Suwannee County, Florida. They moved to Florida to escape the Civil War, but that didn't happen as he was killed in the Civil War. His widow continued to live in the community of Orange, in Suwannee County. This is near the Suwannee River. My understanding she was the first person to be buried in the cemetery. Their children: Harriet Robinson(had red hair),born in Mecklenburg County NC married Jehu Goff, Jr., March 23, 1876---from the Orange Community in Suwannee County, Fl. Jehu Goff, Sr. is my great-great grandfather. John Jefferson Robinson born April 14,1852, Mecklenburg County, NC Died January 5, 1929 buried Orange Cemetery. He married Mildred Melissa Lamb, March 23,1876 Suwannee County, Fl. James Rufus Born March 8, 1854 Died August 17, 1961. Married Martha E. Williams. William Anderson Robinson my grandfather was born December 15, 1856 and died July 28, 1918 while my father, Wade Matthew Robinson was serving in WW1 in France. He married Mary Elizabeth Roberts. Both are buried in Orange Cemetery. Robert Lee Robinson born June l, 1865 Suwannee County, Fl died April 3, 1919. He married Laura Hingson September 29, 1889. All of "Red" Robinson family are buried in Orange Cemetery.

It has taken me years to trace my family history. I am next to the youngest grandchild of William Anderson Robinson, by the time I was old enough to want to learn about my family lots of the older generation was deceased. We had moved from the community of Orange because of the Depression. Therefore the close contact with relatives was lost. I had searched Florida and South Carolina but later found on the net they were from NC.

There are no Robinson Family Reunions held that I know of. Millie Cornelia Robinson Clark, oldest daughter of William Anderson Robinson, has a family reunion each year. This reunion is held at the Orange Church in Suwannee County.
