Roger was born and raised in Sitka. He is an alaska native. His Tlingit.His wife Emma Eleanor (Nelson) Howard and Roger raised six children in Sitka. They were married December 15,1958 in Sitka, Alaska. Emma was born in Metlakatla,Alaska.Emma was S . Emma passed away in June 3,2001 due to medical reasons.
Roger and Emma raised there children in Sitka. They taught them so much about life and family. They would take their six children on summer vacations to Seattle every year. All of Roger's sons (Roger Jr.,Donald and Michael) played basketball through high school. He sent them to basketball camps every year.His three daughters (Natalie, Yvonne and Pam) Natalie picked up on sewing,she made dresses and other items,Yvonne went to Sheldon Jackson College to become a teacher and Pam was involved basketball,cross country, future teachers alaska and was involved in many other activities.Their children all recieved their diplomas.(Four graduated from Sitka High School and Two graduated from Mount Edgecumbe High School.)
Roger and Emma watched all their children grow up.Yvonne got married to Tom Wehnes they have four children. Donald got married to Carolyn(Clough) and they have two children. Natalie marrried Bud
Finney and have one son.
