Howson's of Essex

About Our Family Research

Looking for John and Mary Howson who migrated from England and settled in Eden Mills Ontario. There son John who's wife is also Mary is the earliest generation I have been able to locate. I found a Joseph and Ann who settled in the Windsor area, but I don't have enough details to confirm if this is the same family. There is a good chance it is. Joseph and Ann are from Kirby Fleetham Yorshire England, and they also had a son named John (adding to theconfusion). There are a lot of Howson's from that area, and I beleive there are a lot of John and Mary combinations.
Three Howson brothers left left their home in Eden Mills and walked to an Aunts home in Maidstone Ontario near Windsor. Three Howson brothers (son's of John Jr one who was also named John) married three Bunn sisters from Maidstone. One of these brothers settled in Winnepeg Manitoba, and another in Saulte St Marie. There are other clans in Ontario and the biggest outside of ours would be in Peterbourgh, but I haven't found a connection.
Other family I'm working on is the Sawyer's from the Amherburg area.
