I, Thomas David Howell, have just recently become interested in tracing my ancestry, because I am currently between jobs and have some time, I have chosen to spend it this way. I am aware of the fact an aunt on my father's side, has made some efforts toward this end. I have decided to see how far I could go with the limited knowledge I have. My father, Thomas Watson Howell, was born in 1914, in north Georgia. Particularly around Tilton, near Dalton, Ga. My father's father was named Lee Howell, any further back I haven't discovered yet. I have a more extensive knowledge of my mother's line. My mother's name was, Georgia Sarah Bryant, and recently died in March of this year, 2001, in Ft. Lauderdale. She was born in north Alabama, in or around Bridgeport, Jackson county Alabama. Her family is reported to have come from atop of the north end of Sand Mountain, a small community called, Bryant, Alabama, reportedly named for her family. I have knowledge of many aunts and uncles that I will install in the Family Tree and see where it leads.
