In High School John was on the track team and won all county for running broad jump. He attended Syracuse University Physical Education, was drafted into the Army and served 2 years in Germany in the tank division. After discharge he worked at the steel mill, then to Continental Can Co. where he became plant supervisor. Upon retirement they moved to Florida and now travel extensively and belong to an R.V. group called Go Go Angels of whom he is President.
