I am 47 yr of age and have been doing my family history research since I was a senior in high school in 1972. I started out doing it due to a project my senior English teacher Miss Gladys Burkham had every senior class do which was trace back your family for five generations and do an oral project on it. Because of her I was privileged to persuade my father that we needed for me to know more about my family. Therefore I met two of my great-grandmothers in South Eastern Kentucky. That was on my mothers side. She had the names of Callahan, Spurlock, Day, Sizemore, Maggard, Lewis, Coots, Baker, Shepherd, and other names on her side of the family. My father's family had lived in Dallas, Texas all of my life and they came from South Carolina. His names were Hudson, O'Hara, Scott, Edwards, Rice, Wynn, and others. I had the privilege of knowing my father's father and mother. My grandfather instilled a love of family and it is still with me today. I feel it is his legacy for me. I have since learned and got to know by phone an uncle of my Mother's and he was happy to pass his family knowledge on to me as well. For the two of them I will be eternally grateful.
