Fourty years collectively, have been spent researching the life and the times of David Hughes, an Irish Immigrant, searching for democracy, and the freedom that lies within..searching for a land were all men were equal ..fleeing from his own country of persecution and famine and certain doom. He overcame countless trials and tribulations of an unknown land. He fought against Nation after Nation. Battled the Indians, and the rugged untouched terrain of this vast mountainous land. He defeated starvation, and conflict with his own neighbors, the Federalist, The Torries,The French, The British and the Spainiards in order to help develop a better life, a renewed spirit and to create the sanctity of hope for himself, his people, his children. He watched, as George Washington became the first American President, and waited in deperate resolve as the first congress was being born.He watched in amazement as Benjamin Franklin created the first post office. A New World, A New Hope....He came to live in The United States of America....God Bless America.
