Dickson - Wyatt

About Our Family Research

The Dickson family settled Western Tennessee as recipients of a Revolutionary War land grant. Joseph Dickson served valiantly in the battle of Kings Mountain, NC against the British. THe Dicksons probably moved to North Carolina from Pennsylvania (Chester County).

My grandfather, Solie Dickson, married a neighbor, Nellie Wyatt, and they had one child, Beatrice. The family moved to Oklahoma when Bea was 9 months old. Solie had 5 brothers and sisters, including a twin brother, who died in adolescence. Nellie had 3 sisters, all of whom remained in Western Tennessee.

Nellie Wyatt was the daughter of Bennie Wyatt and Susan Hinson. I have been unable to find where Bennie was born, or anything about him, except that he died in the early 1900's of scarlet fever.
