About Our Family Research

This site has been up since 2001. I have obtained much information and have made every effort to add every vital record.
However,
ANY and ALL assistance with this site and my ongoing research is requested of anyone who can help!!!

I am researching;
Hughes, Crews, Payne/Paine, McGee, Smith, Waters, Ponds, Rose, Emmert, Stamats as they pertain to their life's journey to, into and through Lawrence County, Tennessee.

Thanks,

Randall Benjamin Hughes
(Son of James W. and Hettie (Crews) Hughes, Loretto, TN.)

Family Photos
  • Dad (and friends) in front of a tank (133 KB)
This is a picture of Dad after returning from WWII. Possibly taken during his National Guard times as there were 2 tanks I have photos of. 1 says "Queen of Lawrenceburg" and the other "Maid of Lawrenceburg". He is the one standing on the ground.
  • Ida Elizabeth McGee and Hettie (in arms) (20 KB)
This is a picture of Ida Elizabeth McGee-Crews at 40 years of age. The child would have had to have been Mom (Hettie Crews) because Mom told me this picture was taken in 1921 and that is the year Mom was born. She also told me that Grandma Crews was 40 years old in this picture. She was born 07-03-1881.
  • Jacob Sidney Emmert (24 KB)
Mom's (Hettie Crews-Hughes') Great Grandfather, Jacob Sidney Emmert. His parents, Johann Emmert and Anna Marie Gergin, brought him and his siblings to America. Later, in 1868 they moved to Lawrence Co., TN. from Indiana in 2 covered wagons.
  • William Benjamin Crews (16 years old) (26 KB)
This is a picture of William Benjamin Crews at age 16. I (Randall Benjamin Hughes) am named after this man.
  • William Benjamin Crews (32 KB)
This is the Father of Hettie (Crews) Hughes, Annie Mae (Crews) Lumpkins, William Taft Crews, J. Sidney Crews. Mary Elizabeth Crews, and Eva Crews (Hettie's twin).
  • Mom (Hettie) in Dad's (James') suit! (14 KB)
While waiting for Dad to return from WWII, Mom took the occassion to put on Dad's suit. I suppose she felt it would bring him closer to her.
  • Sweeties on the Railroad (15 KB)
I wonder if this wasn't taken before of after their trip to Florence, Al. Mom and Dad took the "Huckity Buck" to Florence to get married. This picture was taken near Springer Station. Mom was living with Claude and Annie Mae Lumpkins.
  • James W. and Hettie (Crews) Hughes Hwy.43 (10 KB)
Post WWII picture of Mom and Dad. Picture was taken (probably) on Hwy. 43. I say this because there weren't too many paved road at this time in Lawrence Co., Tennessee. (Not sure of the occassion.)
