Notes for Helen L. Smith: From Funeral Remembrance
Helen L. Hunt, age 91, formerly of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, Iowa. Helen L. Smith was born July 25, 1910 at Interior, South Dakota, to Herman and Vera (Jordan) Smith. She graduated from Glidden High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Herman O. Hunt on December 15, 1936. They farmed in the Glidden, Lake City, and Auburn areas. She moved to Fort Dodge in January of 2000 and entered a nursing home in December of 2000 following a stroke. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Auburn and while living there had been very active in the church as a Sunday school teacher, in Ladies Aid, and in Christian Fellowship Club. She enjoyed gardening and being with family, especially the grandchildren and the great grandchildren. Survivors include her two daughters and their spouses: Marjorie and Ronald Danner of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Dorothy and Luke Erpelding of Humboldt, Iowa; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers: Henry Smith of Lake City and Merman Smith Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; and one sister Hazel Ensley of Graettinger, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, brothers: Harold, Kenneth, George and Glen, sisters: Grace Piper, Violda Meinz, and Louise Blankenship.
