Funeral was held at St. John's Monday
Mr. Fred Seeden, son of Dick and Johanna Kampmeier Seeden, was born on January 3, 1861 at Shearan, Germany. He was baptized and instructed in the Christian religion in the Old Country. He came to the United States in 1882, and settled her in Iowa, remaining in this community for 63 years. He was untied in marriage to Gretje Wilhelmina Heuton on October 8, 1885. This union was blessed with three sons and two daughters. His wife died on the 26th day of July, 1917. One son, William, died December 26, 1935. Another son, Freddie, was an invalid and required the special care of his father and kind friends. Freddie preceded his father in death on June 13, 1942. Mr. Seeden was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Glidden, Iowa and had a share in the building of this congregation. He spent most of his life in farming and retired in later years to live in Glidden, until the infirmities of old age and ill health prompted him to make his home with his daughter, residing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gross of Glidden, until the time of his death. Mr. Seeden had been ill several years, but was critically ill for the last two weeks. A few days prior to his death he suffered a stroke and departed this life on Thursday, September 6, 1945, at about 8:20 in the morning, at the age of 84 year, 8 months and 3 days. He is survived by one son, Richard E. Seeden of Hinsdale, Illinois, one daughter, Mrs. Grace Maarten, Bingham Lake, Minnesota, one daughter, Mrs. Ida Gross of Glidden, Iowa, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Seeden, one sister, Mrs, Charles Bushman, 26 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 10, 1945. The short service at the Huffman Funeral Home, Carroll, Iowa, was followed by services at St. John's American Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Glidden, Rev. Geo. J. Gundel, Pastor.
According to the 1920 Census Fred immigrated in 1885. According to the 1910 Census they had 6 children which were alive at that time.
