According to Lawrence Seeden, Meint lost an eye hurrying to the hnitedouse with a team of horses when a storm came up and it seems a tree branch hit him in the eye.

MIKE HEUTON DIES AT ST. ANTHONY HOSPITAL
Death Comes Last Thursday, Just Six Weeks After His Wife Had Passed Away at the Same Place.
Mike Henry Heuton , a long time and well known resident of this community died last Thursday evening, August 21st at the hospital in Carroll, following an attack of acute indigestion. He attained the age of 78 years and 26 Days. His wife died at the hospital just six weeks ago, on July 6th. Meint Henry Heuton was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heuton and was born in Friesland, Germany, July 26 1841. At the age of 18 years he came to America, making his home in Carroll County. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Seeden of Sheridan township. To this union were born nine children - Henry, William Frederick, Onke, Margaret, Mrs. Recka Dillivan, Mrs. Ada Bushman, Mrs. Hannah Beechel of Pine City, Minnesota. Since the death of his wife life has been very lonely to him.. He had been quite poorly in health for a number of years. The near relatives left to mourn are his nine children; eighteen grandchildren; four brothers - Henry and Onke Heuton, both living near Lidderdale, John Heuton, at Atkinson, Kas., and N.H. Heuton of Corpus Christie, Texas, Mrs. Beechel of Pine City, Minn. and John Heuton of Atkinson Neb., were present at the funeral. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Iverson at the Lutheran church Sunday at 11 o'clock. Pall Bearers were John Ford, Geo. Wetter, Hand Thede, Anton Truhe, John Ewart, and Preston Clark. Burial was made at Westlawn. Meint (Michal) Henry Heuton was one of five Heuton boys that came to America. He married Margaret Seeden in 1881. He was the father of Ada Heuton Bushman *1881-1946); Johanna Heuton Beechel (1884 - ?); Henry Mike Heuton (1885-1940); Richard Frederick Heuton (1888-1969); William Herman Heuton (1890-1955); Fredrick Johnauas Heuton (1892-?); Onke Jacob Heuton (1894-1962); Fredrecka Henrietta Annetta Heuton Dillivan (1898-1949) and Margaret Caroline Heuton Schafer (1901-?). Meint Heuton arrived in America through the port of New Orleans. After staying around New Orleans for a few months, he went to Adams county Illinois. In February 1870, Meint traveled back to Germany to get his future bride and her family. In February 1879, he bought a farm near Glidden, Iowa. Meint's wife is Margaret Seeden, daughter of Richard Seeden and Johanna Kampmeier Seeden The five Heuton sons that traveled to America were Meint, Nanne, William, Onke and Henry Heuton. The second time that Meint traveled back to America, with his future bride from Ostfriesland, Germany, I do not know if the arrival port was New York or New Orleans, to New Orleans, Orleans Parish, LA in 1859 to Adams County, IL in abt 1859 to Germany in 1870 To Glidden, Carroll County, IA in 1879
