My name is: Brenda Darlene Thompson Morgan Hurley. I have recently begun to search for family information for my children and grandchildren. I welcome any assistance I can get. My email address is "darmsw@aol.com". My parents were Grant Edward Thompson and Edna Hester Baker, Lexington, Kentucky. My paternal grandparents were Charles Robert Thompson and Susie Rebecca Hisel. My grandmother's parents were Andrew Jackson Hisel and Lucinda Parker. My maternal grandparents were William Baker and Hettie Wilson, daughter of John Wilson and Mahalia (unknown). Mahalia later married (unknown) Sandlin and had the following children: Rose, Sarah, Eli, Taylor, and Larkin Sandlin. I cannot find out anything about Mahalia nor John other than that. My grandfather's parents were Lewis Baker and Elizabeth Moberly. Their children were/are: William, Job, Emma, Polly (Bishop), George, John, and Dan Baker. I do not know where they were originally from, but apparently lived in Clay County, Kentucky. I know nothing of their ancestry.
I was married to Hubert Morgan, Hyden, Kentucky. His mother is Virginia Opal Skeens, his father was Gargener Hays Morgan. His maternal grandparents were Sam Skeens and Margaret Baker of Leslie County, Kentucky. Sam Skeens' parents were Lee Skeens and Julianne Shepherd, unknown origin. Margaret Baker's parents were Henry Baker and Sarah Ellen Parks. I was told that there was relationship between Margaret's Bakers (my ex-husband, Hubert's grandmother) and William's Bakers (my maternal grandfather), but have been unable to make the connection.
