Notes for Perry Charles Hurtt, Sr: Worked on farms in southern Illinois and around State Center, Iowa until the mid to late 20's when he moved to Kane Co., Ill to find other work. His wife - Annie - would not leave southern Illinois so he moved to find work and divorced her when she would not accompany him. He worked on road construction and WPA projects around Kane Co., Ill and in the late 30's worked as a machinist in North Aurora, Ill.
In the Spring of 1942, he moved to Portland, Or. to work in the shipyards where he injured his back and was unable to do heavy work for the rest of his life. Subsequently, he worked as a night watchman and as a sexton in the Eastside Cemetery in Batavia, Ill.
