My dad is john Hurt,my mother was Joy Brister.My grand mother was a Mccoy. I think my grand father was also named John.My great great grandfather was named Eligha Hurt He is buried in the Hurt cemetary close to Stockdale Texas.Some of my relitives live there.I believe the Hurts camefrom Virginia.Eljah Randolph Hurt came to texas some time in the 1850's.and settled for the time after wetward homesteading,across the united states,from Virginia to Sandies Chapel,Now Dewville in Gonzales,County. He was living at Sandies Chapel before 1857',as he was a trustee of the Methodist church in 1857. He was a menmber of the masonic lodge at Sandies Chapel. He was born in Arlington county,Virginia in 1807'.His father was James Hurt.These Hurts came on the ship The Treasurer.The name Hurt is old English dating back to Oxfordshire,England in 1273.If you know more about the Hurt family Let me here from you.
