About Our Family Research

My immigrant NEFF family was that of John Neff and his wife, Margaret Hartman Neff, and their daughter Elizabeth Neff, coming from Hesse Darmstadt in 1848 on the ship "ELise", to the Port of New York, and they came to Sharpsburg, Allegheny Co Pa.

My immigrant O'BRYAN family came from Ireland about 1870, in the form of Patrick O'Bryan, O'Bryne, O'Brien, etc. He came to Pittsburgh, PA, and settled near the Leetsdale area. He married Margaret O'NEIL of Pittsburgh

My Heckel immigrants came from Alsace, the town of Thal-Drulingen, in the form of Andreas Heckel and his wife, Henrietta Wiedeman, and her father, Nichol Wiedeman about 1828. They came to Beaver Co., New Sewickley Twp., but ended up living mostly in Butler Co., Jackson TWP>,,and then the family came to Etna Pa.

My CONNOLLY ancestor was my grandmother, Anne Connolly, born May 1885 in Rosmuc, Co. Galway, Ireland. She came to America in 1902, on ship to New York, but immediately got on a train to San Francisco to work there and be among some family. She survived the great earthquake, and got the train to Pittsburgh, Pa. She worked there as a domestic in and around the city--in Sewickley for one. She was the daughter of Thomas Connolly and Kate Connolly of Rosmuc. Her sisters, Mary, Barbara, Bridget and Eliz., and brother Martin eventually came to Pittsburgh also.
Anne married Charles Celestine O'BRYAN, they lived in Haysville.
