I am trying to find the Birth of Carl Her(t)zberger.
The first record I have of him is on the 1851 Census in Manchester, England.
He was then living at 43 Charter Street, listed as Karl Hertzberger, a Lodger, UnMarried, 34yrs old, Occupation; Tailor. Place of Birth; Germany.
Living in the same apartment was Darsea?(partly unreadable) Brown, a Lodger, UnMarried, 27yrs old, Occupation; Bricklayer, Place of Birth; Germany.
Also Peter Brown, a Married 24yrs old Bricklayer from Germany
and his wife & daughter both named Elizabeth.
Some 3 months later a Carl Herzberger married Dorothea Brown on 3rd July 1851 at Manchester Cathedral, witnessed by Peter Brown & Margaret Halbert.
Carl gave his Place of Birth on the 1871 Census in Liverpool, England as Prussea, Germany.
Both in Manchester & Liverpool Carl worked as a Divingdress Maker for Hellewells Waterproofers.
I have a 99% complete History of the Hertzberger (and Hurst) descendants of Carl to the present day, but cannot find any record (so far) further back than the 1851 Census(above).
