My Family History - Sneddon and Hurly and all inbetween
Updated March 6, 2005
| About Our Family Research |
|
I am researching both my own family and my husbands family so that my grandchildren will know both their South African and British Heritage. Some lines have been much easier to research than others and I still have a very long way to go on some, but all that I have researched so far has been a wonderfully interesting experience that has resulted in finding relatives that were quite unknown to me and many friendships with fellow researchers that I never would have dreamed of. There are still many gaps and leafless branches to be filled and the search goes on. So far I've discovered I descend from those who helped deepen rivers, and built canals in Scotland, and my children descend from the very earliest settlers in the country of their birth South Africa....from a Slave who's name went down in history and her daughter whose husband was one of the first owners after Simon van der Stel of Constantia and Groot Constantia famous to this day.
If anyone viewing these pages spots any error or can add information for any of the families please e-mail me - I will be more than grateful for any information that will bring this story to life for after all it is from the people in this picture that we have inherited skills and talents, as well as faults, that make us who and what we are to-day.
