Our Iglar ancestors came from Frydman (Slovak: Fridman), a village in the region of Polish Spisz (Slovak: Spiš). Polish Spisz, or Zamagurze, was part of Poland before the 14th century and after 1920. During the centuries in between, it was part of Slovakia, within the Kingdom of Hungary. The people of this region, the "Górale," are the highlanders of the Tatra Mountains.
ANDREJ IGLAR, our earliest known ancestors, was probably born about 1736 in Fridman, Spiš, Slovakia, Hungary. Andrej Iglar married MARIA PODLIPNI probably before 1771. Andrej Iglar died on 27 June 1799 in Fridman.
JAN IGLAR, the son of Andrej Iglar and Maria Podlipni, was probably born about 1771 in Fridman. Jan Iglar married MARIA STANEK on 12 February 1798 in Lapsze Nizne, Spiš, Slovakia, Hungary. Maria Stanek, the daughter of ADAM STANEK and MAGDALENA GANCZAR, was born between 1771 and 1781 in Lapsze Nizne. Jan Iglar died on 23 November 1851 in Fridman. He lived in house #22 at the time of his death. Maria Stanek died before 1851 in Fridman.
JAN IGLAR, the son of Jan Iglar and Maria Stanek, was born on 24 March 1802 in Fridman. Jan Iglar married ELIZABETHA BRINCZKA on 16 February 1829 in Fridman. Elizabetha Brinczka, the daughter of JAN BRINCZKA and MARIA MASKAYLA, was born on 2 October 1811 in Fridman. Jan Iglar died on 21 January 1858 in Fridman. He lived at house #22 in Fridman at the time of his death. Elizabetha Brinczka died on 12 June 1888 in Fridman. She also lived in house #22 at the time of her death.
ANDREJ IGLAR / JENDREK IGLAR, the son of Jan Iglar and Elizabetha Brinczka, was born on 5 November 1837 in Fridman. Andrej Iglar married ELIZABETHA KAVA on 14 October 1868 in Fridman when he was thirty-one (31) years old and she was twenty-one (21). Elizabetha Kava, the daughter of JAN KAVA and ELIZABETHA MARKOVICS, was born on 20 June 1847 in Fridman. Andrej Iglar probably died on 16 November 1885 in Fridman when he would have been forty-eight (48) years old. He lived at house #22 in Fridman at the time of his death.
WOJCIECH IGLAR, the son of Andrej Iglar and Elizabetha Kava, was born on 3 May 1870 in house #22 in Fridman. Wojciech Iglar married MARIA PAVLIK on 8 February 1899 in Fridman when he was twenty-eight (28) years old and she was twenty-two (22). Maria Pavlik, the daughter of VALENTY PAVLIK and ELIZABETHA SUBISZAK, was born on 23 December 1876 in Fridman.
Wojciech Iglar and Maria Pawlik lived in Valca, Zilina, Slovakia, Austria-Hungary in 1906 at the time of the birth of their son, Maciej Iglar. The family later moved back to Frydman, and they lived in Fridman #43 which was connected to house #44. An Iglar ancestor may have owned or leased the Frydman kasztel and cellars. This ancestor may have been Wojciech, or perhaps his father, Andrej.
Wojciech Iglar died on 2 February 1948 in Frydman #172 at the age of seventy-seven (77). Maria died on 4 April 1942 in Frydman #44 at the age of sixty-five (65).
VALENTY IGLAR, the son of Wojciech Iglar and Maria Pavlik, was born on 2 February 1913 in Fridman #29.
FRANCISZEK IGLAR / FRANK IGLAR, the son of Valenty Iglar and Margaret Brinczka, was born on 30 August 1942 in house #170 in Frydman.
RICHARD FRANK IGLAR, the son of Frank Iglar and Helene Koyblarz, was born on 7 September 1967 in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey.
