Our family - "the Imiolo family of Debnice, Krakow, Poland - migrated to Canada in the late teens of the last century - beginning with my father John Sr - who arrived in Montreal Canada and traveled to Winnipeg Manitoba. He went to Manitoba to fulfill his contract which he entered into to be able to receive passage to Canada. He worked in Manitoba for the required five years as a farm-hand. Once the contract was fulfilled - he remained for another two years as a hired farm hand. He then left Manitoba travelling east to St. Catharines Ontario - to work as a labourer in a foundry. He resided in St.Catharines for another few years - then moving to the Township of Crowland - located south of St. Catharines - near the City of Welland. Dad sought out employment at the Page-Hersey Tubes ( a steel-pipe manufacturing concern). He also purchased a used flat bed five ton truck and began using this truck for hire. He also delivered coal form the Humberstone Coal Docks on the Welland Canal. During this same period (the middle 1920's) Dad married Miss Rose Kosior and built themselves a "home" on Railroad Avenue - on a piece of land he purchased from his in-laws - Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Victoria Kosior. The Kosior's lived nect door to-gether with their two daughters - Rose and Julia. Dad & Mom resided there untill late 1939 and purchased another property at 322 Southworth St South and sold the Railroad Ave. property.
