I have been researching the Linkeman Family surname for about two years now. I have found out that Linkeman is really Lumkemann. It was changed when they came over from Germany and was settled in Granite City, IL. Herman Heinrich Lumkemann came over from Germany sometime between 1850 and 1859. He settled in St. Louis, MO before moving to Chouteau Island in Granite City, IL. He married Hanna M. Ehlen in 1856 in St. Louis, MO. They had two children: Mary and Herman. They both died in 1881 in Granite City, IL. He had a brother named Herman Lumkemann. He died when he was about 38 years old. He left a two year old daughter named Mary.
I am also researching the surnames of: BANGE, EPPING, INMAN, RAPP,SHEARIN, And WATERMAN.
