The name Ironside is very rare in Northern Ontario, and as I am learning, I guess it is quite rare in the rest of the world also.
So I often wondered how someone with a modest income could afford to research his name. When I came upon Congealogy.com I was very interested in finding out how it worked and it seems like maybe I found a way to research without costing a lot of money.
I haven't really done much research yet but am learning the ropes and hope that I may be able to help others at the same time.
I do know that my fathers parents were from Midland Ontario, and my mothers parents from the Orilia area of Ontario.
As far as I know we have never had a family reunion. Probably because the number of family members that keep in touch is so small that we meet at funerals and weddings and that is about it.
Of course, that is one of the reasons I decided to do some research. We must have had ancesters from somewhere.
