I have been trying to find out where we came from and how we got connected with people from eastern provinces. I am having a hard time because of our history not being recorded, except for the priests description of us in regards to the religion they were offering. The history of Cree Indians from northern Saskatchewan was not well recorded because it was mainly in numbers and no names. the treaties only recorded the number assigned to the head of the family and no names were identified. Through marriages from names that were iterpreted from what the meanings were in english and some were from the travelling trappers or voyagers at the time. There are names that came from eastern Canada, which were passed on to the Metis from our area and then they married treaties from different bands, which then became prmanent names in each community. These are the names in which I have been trying to find, where did they come from and where did they go. Some of the names that were recorded were names that eventually non existant because of the woman being married to a different name, or the woman did not bare any children, so the name disappeared.
