About Our Family Research
The Irvine/Irving family came to America around 1833 from Ireland and settled in Providence, R.I. My G-G-Grandfather migrated to Augusta, GA around 1855 and was residing there during the Civil War. His brothers remained in Providence and fought for the North. Around 1855 the city directory of Providence starting listing all Irvines as Irvings. The gravestones in Providence list the family as Irving while my G-G-Grandfather's gravestone is listed as Irvine.
My wife is decended from William Durkee/Durfee who immigrated to the colonies from Ireland before 1664.
Other surnames are Fuller, Mitchell, Rote, Pinkerman and Parmer.
