John Walter Irvine of New Zealand Updated March 23, 2002
About Our Family Research
I am researching my family along my paternal side. I have a lot of information, but only back to about 1820 in Ireland. Apparently the Irvines, like a lot of Scots, fled Scotland for Irelad to avoid religious persecution. In the early 1840's (approx) they moved to Dalry, in Ayrshire, Scotland. All the men back to 1820 were named John Irvine....right down to my own son today. The John who moved to Dalry was married to a Sarah jane Vint in Ireland, and they had a number of children. It is likely that they lived in County Armargh....but not certain. Any help or leads here would be appreciated, as I have come to a dead stop!!
