I really want to know more about my family and have come to find little if any record keeping. Please Help!
Here's what I do know. My father was born to immigrants from Chechoslavakia. He is the youngest of three, and the only one born in America. My paternal grandparents never passed through Ellis Island, as my grandmother was pregnant with my father and was given a flight into America. My mother was born to a Polish mother who escaped the Nazi regime. With 1 of her 6 siblings, she ran and ended up in Paris with a young son. Her first husband died in Poland in a tragic roofing accident and she et her second husband in the DP camps. He came to America first, through his parents, they kept in touch, and my grandmother later came to America and married him. He adopted her son from her firt marraige and after he passed away of a fatal heart attack, my grandmother married once more. My paternal grandfather had a wife and children, all of whom were killed during the war, before marrying my paternal grandmother, but as he never spoke of them, we have nothing to go on. I would love to be able to make contact with any part of that family, so if you or somebody you know was related to a Izak Itzkowitz, please contact me!
