Hello! My name is Ruth Jones Ivey. I was born and grew up in Henderson County NC. My parents are Norman Reed JONES (1899-1953) and Lula Mae MCCARSON (1904-1996). My husband is Jim Ivey and his parents are James Waylon IVEY (1904-) and Leola HESTER (1908-1983). He was born and grew up in Bladen County NC. We have been looking for our ancestors off and on for about eight years. Here are some from my father's line that I need help on: James Manning JONES who moved from VA to Henderson Co NC (then Buncombe Co) in the early 1800's and settled in the Dana area. He had three sons, William, Wiley and George and possibly a daughter Mary/Polly who is my GrGr Grandmother. Louisa SCRUGGS (1826-1870) who married John Stiram BROOKSHIRE (1815-188?). Their first child was Harriet Louisa (1847-187?). Louisa is also a GrGr Grandmother. The parents of Thomas ANDERSON (1793-1860) and his wife Ann/Nancy RICE (1794-1880). In 1826 they walked from Edgefield SC to Henderson Co NC (then Buncombe Co) with two children John, who was about eight years old, and Lillie Serena who was about six years old. They were all born in SC. Thomas and Ann/Nancy are my GrGrGrGrandparents. The parents of Jacob CANTRELL (1784-1853) and his wife Elizabeth GILES (1787-1874). Jacob was born in NC and Elizabeth was born in SC. They both died in GA. Jacob and Elizabeth are my GrGrGr Grandparents. If you know anything about these people I would appreciate hearing from you. I will be happy to share what I have with you.
