Ules Cone Phillips (son of Alfred Randolph Phillips and Gertrieth Mabel Arnold) was born 18 Jul 1925 in Lake City, Florida, and died 06 Oct 1993 in Texarkana, Texas. He married Nannie Jo Boyce on 30 Dec 1945 in St. Augustine, Florida, daughter of Lucius Kittrell Boyce and Fannie Belle Reeder.

Ules served in the Navy during World War II. Served on aircraft carriers Carrigador, and the original USS Roosevelt. Served in the Pacific Theater during the war, also Great lakes, San Diego, Jacksonville, ft. Lauderdale, Norfolk, Pensacola, Charleston, Pleasantville, Quonset Point, Little Creek, VA. He quit school after the 8th grade to help provide for the family after the death of his father. Delivered telegrams before joining the Navy at age 17. After service was an appliance serviceman and volunteer fire chief. Is buried in the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus Arkansas.
