Notes for Nancy Alameda Hall Gant Clendennin: Nancy Alameda Gant Clendennin was rumored to have been found in a saloon in St. Louis and adopted by the Clendennins. Alameda Hall is thought to have been the name of the saloon. She was raised as a sister to Isabelle Clendennin, and some members of the family think she really was, but from old photographs it seem more likely that she was part American Indian, maybe as much as half. She looked nothing like her blond haired, blue eyed siblings, having straight black hair, brown eyes, and dark complexion. She is buried in a marked grave next to husband Daniel in the Lockesburg Cemetery, in Lockesburg, AR.
