The Phillips family came from Scotland. The name Phillips was originally Phillippi-from a member of the Spanish Armada who married a Scottish woman, thus forming the Phillips Clan. The Phillips Clan allied with the McDonald clan of Glencoe, Scotland. The first member of the Clan to come to America was George Phillips, a Protestant minister who had to leave Scotland because of religious differences.
