My Palatine Ancestors

Updated November 27, 2001

About Our Family Research

I have traced my roots back to Johannes Coonrad Beringer (later changed to Barringer)who came to New York with the Palatine immigrants of 1710.

Johannes Coonrad married Anna Elizabeth Stahl and had three sons of record (also daughters) - namely, Frederich, Hendrich, & Jacob. I am a descendant of Frederich and his wife, Anna Margaretha Zufeld.

Frederich moved to Rensselaer County, NY (Wynantskill) in 1762.
He leased land from the Van Rensselaer family as did his sons.
This family was prominent in the Dutch Reformed Church, first in Dutchess Co. and later in Wynantskill.

Frederich's son, David was a Sgt. in the Rev. War. David married Maria Barbara Haner and their son, Peter D. Barringer married Margaret Simon/Simmons and their son, Jacob Henry Barringer was my gr-gr-grandfather.
