I am trying to locate how and when and with whom my father imigrated to the U.S.

My father is from Beirut, Lebanon which was at the turn of the century known as Syria and I think was under Turkish rule and then under the French.

The Mayor or the town church kept birth records.

My grandfather (my fathers father) was named Monsieur or Monsour Salih (or Abi Salih). He came to America but only stayed a few years and went back to Lebanon

The last name may have been spelled - SALEH -

My grandmother (my fathers mother was named Zmird or Ezmured. She came to America between 1905 & 1920. She died in Boise, Idaho

They had 9 children

Son Saad or Fred in English
Son-my father- Elias I remember the Arabs referring to
him as Elia but my mother always
referred to him as Lee.

Daughter Afiefi or Affie or Effie

Daughter Mountha Lives in Brazil

We always celebrated daddy's birthday on July 24.
