I began my family research 3 years ago, shortly after my mother passed away. Family Heritage always interested me,when younger, but was told to "Let old dogs lay". When my mother passed away, my sister was left to sort and arrange her belongings, till I could go back up to Sydney. Three months later, I drove up with a friend and we spent 5 days with her, I went through a box of old papers, which my sister had not done as yet, and I came across some typed papers done on an old what I would call "Remington typewriter". It began: Martin Regan was born in or around 1771 in County Meath, Ireland..............I stopped after the first paragraph and called my sister and friend in and read the 4 page notes to them. We were flabergasted, our 4th great grandfather did not travel to Australia as a free man after all, he was arrested and sent to a penal colony in Port Jackson, Australia. My research began as soon as I arrived home. Through my research I have come across new and old relatives, it has been quite an adventure. But, what I would like to find out is about where some of those who married into the REGAN family came from. (Mj) Je'lavell
