George Strother Messer is the son of George Messer and Nancy Caldwell, and greatgrand son of Christian Sargent Messer of Haywood County,North Carolina. There is alot of infomation on the Messers in Haywood County Library, where most of my research was done. These three generations of Messers go back to Captain Robert Messer, who was one of the Regulators in the Battle of Alamance.Captain Robert Messer was hung on June 19,1771. Before this date not much is known about this line of Messers.
George Strother Messer was born in 1835 in Haywood County, married Mitilda Franklin on April 16,1856. Mitilda Franklin was born about 1832. Her parents were ? Franklin and Lavinia Yarborough.
